Student updates
Nico's update: Since the beginning of the current term at University, I have been a member of the Model United Nations (MUN) club. It's simply a fancy way of saying debate club, but its so much more than that.
Model United Nations is a whole community, not just in London or the UK, but the entire world. It is full of people with outstanding public speaking skills, research and debating abilities, as well as a passion for diplomacy and negotiation. In almost all cases, Model United Nations's clubs/societies from different Universities are completely student-run, as it is in Hult. These students who run HultMUN have outstanding organizational skills and an unbelievable passion for the subject, and success. This passion radiates to all members of the society at Hult, they push us and consistently have our backs so that we can take the highest-quality learning experience-and win some awards.....
Thanks to everyone who came out to help us celebrate our first year as a foundation! What an amazing journey it's been. We hit the ground running, supporting 4 students before we had our donatario status in Mexico. That's when we realized there was a big huge hole in what was available for funding for Los Cabos students.
As we reflect on this year, what's to come and the students we are helping, the question keeps coming up... how do we measure success?

MCI this month
Fernanda Tello de Meneses 2024: Bonjour chers lecteurs! Today I will write about transformation and growth, about joining the MCI and how this has been a meaningful experience. This program is not just about setting goals-it's about redefining yourself. Through weekly early sessions packed with engaging tasks like answering thought-provoking questions and exploring inspiring TED Talks, I've learned to align my actions with my aspirations.
Since becoming part of MCI, I've embraced habits that fuel my productivity. For instance, waking up early-even on weekends- has become a routine that helps me start the day with energy and focus. Strategies shared during our meeting have made me more proactive, reducing procrastination and keeping me on track. The readings and discussions challenge me to reflect deeply and find personal relevance in everything I do.
What I love most about MCI is it's student-lead community. Knowing this program is driven by students like me creates a strong sense of connection and purpose.
Every moment with MCI feels like a step closer to becoming the best version of myself. I am grateful to be part of a community that empowers growth, resilience, and purpose!

College prep this month
Tessa Roberts, member of College Prep Mentoring class 2024: I was super exited as Lisa and Eric discussed one of my favorite topics-goal setting! We began writing down all our goals, sparking an inspiring and thrilling mentoring session. They introduced concepts like delayed gratification, drawing from Atomic Habits, a book the foundation provided to us students. Through their guidance, we got to know each other better, sharing our main interests and discovering just how talented every Monarch Effect students truly is!
Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday
Explores how ego can hinder success and personal growth, offering lessons on humility, self-awareness, and resilience through three stages: striving, success, and failure. During my first semester of graduate school, l found its insights particularly relevant. The book helped me shift focus from seeking approval to embracing the process, reminding me to remain curious and open to learning.
Holiday emphasizes that success can test character more than failure, urging readers to view achievements as temporary and to stay grounded. This perspective was invaluable as I navigated challenges, like mastering research techniques and overcoming self-doubt. By letting go of the need to appear always capable, I opened myself to collaboration and growth.

MCI this month
Melissa's role model: Bethany Hamilton's story has inspired me since I was child. At 13, she lost her arm in a shark attack and came close to death after loosing a significant amount of blood. Despite this, her determination led her to return to surfing just ten weeks later. To adapt, Bethany modified her technique and equipment with the help of her father, who designed a special surfboard with handles. Less than a year after the accident, she won the National Scholastic Surfing Championship and eventually achieved success in international competitions.
Bethany is a role model to me because she represents perseverance, commitment, and gratitude. Her positive attitude helped her overcome adversity and achieve her dreams, even surpassing them. Her story also reminds me of the importance of having a strong support system, like Bethanys family, who played a key role in her recovery. It's a powerful example of how the backing of family, friends, and others can help us stay resilient and achieve even the greatest goals.
