here is where small changes make vast differences

While education in Mexico is a right of all children, the costs become prohibitive for too many. As a result, many students are routed through a substandard public education system that limits the breadth and depth of their instruction along with the extent of their opportunities and choices in career fields beyond hospitality and construction.

The cost of private education for high-school students in Los Cabos can range from $15,000 pesos (USD 750) per semester to over $70,000 pesos (USD 3,500)*. While there are organizations to provide financial support for “needy” children in public schools to help cover the costs of uniforms, books, school supplies and equipment, there is no such support available to the “privileged” students whose parents understand the substantial advantage to their future pursuits of attending a private school. Consequently, Mexican families are often struggling to pay the tuition and create debt to do so. According to a study by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) in 2021, the middle class was defined as households with a monthly income ranging from 11,080 to 46,871 Mexican pesos (about USD 554 to USD 2,343) *. Private education for one or more children could consume much and sometimes exceeds this income.
